Six Steps

How A Job Gets Through The Workroom.

  1. 01Email photos

Send object type, location, rough size and useful close-ups to hello@rkacovers.com.

  2. 02Measure or drop off

Boat and fitted work normally need a measuring visit or the object at the workshop.

  3. 03Choose fabric and fastening

Canvas, PVC, breathable cloth, reinforcement, zips and fittings are decided before cutting.

  4. 04Deposit and slot

New bespoke work needs a 50% deposit to book the cutting slot.

  5. 05First fit

The cover is checked against the boat, table or machine before final trimming.

  6. 06Final trim and balance

Balance is due on collection or final fit.

October To March

Winter Cutting

New fitted covers are normally 3-4 weeks from deposit.

April To August

Spring Rush

Lead time normally stretches to 6-8 weeks as boats and gardens wake up together.

Summer

Repair Pressure

Urgent repair slots are kept Tuesday and Thursday mornings where possible.

September

Catch-Up

A good month for winter covers before the first named storm turns planning into panic.

Fabric Choice

The Material Follows The Job.

  • Marine Acrylic CanvasSmart, breathable and common for boat and garden work
  • PVC-Coated PolyesterGood for machinery and wipe-clean weather protection
  • Breathable Storage ClothUseful indoors where dust is the enemy and condensation matters
  • Reinforcement PatchesAdded where corners, handles, rails or filler caps would chafe

Plain Rules

What RKA Will Not Do.

  • No sails, sprayhood frames, upholstery cushions or bimini stainless frames.
  • No copying another maker’s cover without the boat, furniture or machine present for checking.
  • No height work, scaffolding covers, lorry curtains or emergency storm tarpaulins.
  • No boat cockpit cover quote from dimensions alone because rail positions, cleats and screen angles matter.
  • No repair on rotten acrylic canvas where the stitching will simply tear through again.
